Picture this… you met the love of your life 5 and a half years ago, with one of your first dates being at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Fast forward to your recent date at the Sculpture Garden, reminiscing on your relationship, when you make a new memory there – getting engaged! This is how the story of Meredith and Ben began, the perfect Twin Cities love story.
Our team met Meredith way back in 2013 at a small wedding fair we put on at La Belle Vie. She was playing in a string quartet and still plays for weddings today! We were honored that Meredith remembered our team and Planning Services once she was engaged. The couple decided on our Lite Planning Package. They wanted to do some work on their own, but needed our knowledge of good vendors and how to find them. This process started with choosing their venue. We gave them a customized list of options that met their preferences. After considering many of them, they narrowed down to two options that they toured. After seeing the venues in person, they decided that Semple Mansion was the perfect fit! They loved the beautiful vibes, easy bar option, and that they could settle into the space for the whole day.
The couple chose to not have a wedding party to keep their morning very relaxed. Meredith got ready with the mothers and her sister at Semple Mansion. LHN Beauty was on site to ensure the ladies were looking their best! An added bonus to Semple Mansion was that they live near the venue, so Ben was able to stay home for a lot of the morning with their sweet dog you saw in their engagement photos by Crystal Liepa Photography.
When they finished getting ready, they took to the grand staircase for their first look. This unique location and dramatic lighting always make for a stunning moment! The couple then made their way around the mansion for portraits and family photos.
Even though they were keeping things simple, they knew they wanted the ceremony to be meaningful. Having a professional officiant to guide them through this process was important to them. We knew right away that Susan from Perfect Day Ceremonies was the right option for them. They shared a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family, friends, and the historic walls of Semple Mansion.
Guests made their way to cocktail hour where they enjoyed drinks and appetizers from Fork & Flair while socializing. Meanwhile, the couple’s vendor team was busy putting the finishing touches on the reception space. We loved that Meredith was eager to invest in beautiful linens from Linen Effects to really lighten up the ballroom at Semple. After browsing she landed on one of our favorites from them, the Chelsea Dot in Ivory! The scattered votives and whimsical table arrangements from Edifloral complimented everything perfectly. We loved how the vision came together, and we can assure you the couple and their guests were obsessed too!
Once everyone was seated, they indulged in a delicious meal from Fork & Flair. As guests came back downstairs for dessert and dancing, they were treated to a fun array of sweets from Angel Food Bakery. Meredith and Ben were very excited about the donuts and the entire treat display. They even had soft pretzels for those savory snackers in their group!
The couple took to the dance floor to do their first dance, followed by both parent dances. Something about being surrounded by a historic mansion during moments like these makes them seem even more sentimental!
