An Intimate Winter Wedding in Minnesota

Real Weddings
Bride and groom portrait alleyway Minnesota winter wedding

Being located in Minnesota, we absolutely love when couples want to have a winter wedding! It can help save money because it is the off season, plus all of your vendors typically have more availability for you to choose from. Elizabeth and Andy are one of our couples who opted for a winter wedding. The night before the wedding, the groom and some of his wedding party people went to an outdoor soccer game. The crazy part is that it was -20 degrees outside that night! That’s when we knew that no matter what the weather turned out like, these two were going to have an amazing winter wedding day!

Due to Covid, their guest count fell to about 90 people. This ended up making the chilly winter day feel so much cozier and more intimate! Earl & Wilson was the perfect venue for this setting with the moody lighting and the florals from Studio Fleurette romanticized the location even more. The getting ready rooms at Earl & Wilson were the perfect spots for the bride and groom to spend the morning with those closest to them. Primped met the ladies in the room bright and early to work their hair and makeup magic. They always do an amazing job ensuring that the ladies are looking (and feeling) their absolute best!

The couple did their first look in the alleyway next to the venue. It made the perfect simple backdrop so you can focus on how stunning Elizabeth’s dress is. We are obsessed with the sleeves on it! Not being afraid of the Minnesota cold, the couple made their way around the area to get some couple shots with Andrew Vick Photography. Andrew is actually a family friend of theirs, so he was even more like family than usual at the wedding!

As guests started arriving and filling the seats, Unparalleled Parking was on site to ensure that everyone stayed safe. The ceremony was sweet, intimate, and fun! However, there was one issue… their officiant got Covid and had to back out at the last minute. Luckily, they had a guest who was ordained and registered in the state of Washington that could perform the ceremony! Now you may be thinking, isn’t this wedding in Minnesota? That’s where Dana, lead planner and owner of Keyed Up Events, comes in. A fun fact about Dana is that she is registered and ordained in the state of Minnesota, so she was able to step in to do the legal portion of the ceremony and sign the license. This comes in handy in an emergency situation like this one!

After the ceremony, everyone joined together to let Andrew Vick get a group photo of all of the guests with the bride and groom. This is a great part about smaller weddings, it makes these photos so much easier! If you’re trying to decide if an intimate wedding is right for you, check out THIS blog we wrote on the benefits of small weddings.

Everyone then got busy socializing during cocktail hour with Liquid Motion keeping the drinks flowing. Dinner was a delicious meal served by Chowgirls (which never disappoints). Throughout the remainder of the night the guests kept busy dancing, including a super sweet first dance and parent dances. You can tell how good Adagio is at keeping guests dancing just by looking at these pictures!

While the guests were busy dancing, the couple and the wedding party snuck off for a little while with Andrew Vick Photography and captured these stunning photos. You can truly feel the genuine love and happiness in each of the photos taken throughout the day.

One final shoutout to the awesome vendor team that brought this day to life!
