Aditi and Nandha started dating in college at the University of Minnesota back in 2016. In 2022 they were overlooking the water from a park in Chicago with their friends when Nandha got down on one knee and popped the question! Obviously Aditi ecstatically said yes and the two got busy dreaming about their non-traditional Indian wedding.
The couple lives out of town, so they knew they wanted someone who was very familiar with their venue, The Minneapolis Institute of Art. Aditi really wanted to get married in an art museum (MIA in particular) because it is such a cool, non-traditional experience! We assured them that we felt comfortable in this unique space as we had four other weddings booked at MIA for that year. They felt like the Keyed Up Events team would be their perfect match, making their wedding our fifth MIA wedding for the year!
We helped them find a place to get ready the morning of the wedding that was near MIA, as you can’t get into the museum until 2:00pm. They decided on to book the space that Positively Charmed had available for rent. Ziel Bridal’s team joined the ladies that morning to perfect their hair and makeup. They were all looking stunning!
As the clock hit 2:00pm, vendors were at the venue and ready to begin setup! The KUE team ensured everyone was greeted and directed, while also setting up decor. We also connected the couple with one of our favorite florists, Studio B Floral. We share a studio space with them, which makes it seamless to use our rentals with their floral creations! Studio B Floral was also on-site when the venue opened, adding perfect floral details in every room. We love the simple, whimsical design that Aditi decided on for their non-traditional Indian wedding!
When the couple arrived on site, Gabrielle Marie Images set them up for a first look on the front steps of MIA. This building is truly one of the most beautiful backdrops for portraits! We are obsessed with how these photos turned out and how the stone building made Aditi’s pink dress pop!
The couple then made their way around the inside of the art museum for portraits and a few group photos with their wedding party and families. We then tucked the wedding party away as guests began to arrive.
One thing about Aditi and Nandha is that they are loved by many! These two had one of the largest weddings at the Minneapolis Institute of Art in 2023, just about hitting capacity. This is another reason it was important for them to have a Planner who knew the space well and could coordinate their large group. The KUE team worked effortlessly to help guests find the ceremony, take their seats, and get the wedding party down the aisle. Aditi and Nandha shared a meaningful ceremony before recessing down the aisle as the newest Mr and Mrs!
Guests then made their way to cocktail hour, where they enjoyed socializing while sipping on the couple’s signature cocktails: Aperol Spritz and Moscow Mules. These candid moments made perfect content for MJS Productions to capture for the couple’s wedding video!
As dinnertime approached, we began to invite guests to find their seats. As we mentioned before, the couple just about hit capacity. So as you can imagine, Jade Corridor was bustling with activity during this process!
Once everyone was seated, we went right into speeches. The couple opted to have speeches prior to dinner in order to go straight into dancing afterward. This was a fun change to the traditional timeline of the reception! Once the speeches wrapped up, Aditi and Nandha said a quick thank you and invited their guests to enjoy the delicious meal they were about to receive!
The couple wanted to have Indian food for their wedding meal, so we worked with Host a Toast to make this happen. They were able to collaborate with Raag to serve up delicious family-style Indian cuisine to this sweet couple and their guests! Due to the family-style service, we kept table decor to a minimum. It included a few rentals from our inventory, along with florals from Studio B Floral. It was truly such a memorable wedding dinner experience!
Not long later, we ensured that the dessert table was ready for guests to hit up as they finished their meals. Glam Doll Donuts provided a large selection of delicious donuts for guests to select from. Guests were delighted with these sweet treats!
Everyone then moved locations for the dance. The couple shared their fun first dance in front of the fountain that was beautifully decorated by Studio B Floral (unfortunately this fountain has since been removed from this space)! DJ Sundeep then got the party started and kept the energy high for the remainder of the evening!
Huge thank you to the amazing vendors who helped pull together this non-traditional Indian wedding for Aditi and Nandha!
