Sometimes we get the opportunity to work with couples who we know personally, like Heather and Chris! Dana, the owner of KUE, used to work with the bride at Whole Foods. Heather and Chris were married during Covid in a tiny ceremony on October 13th. When we heard that they were ready to get their group of loved ones together to have an anniversary wedding, we were pumped! They decided to book our Lite Planning package and had us help them find a venue that would be a good fit for their smaller group and stay within their budget. We explored a few venues and the couple ultimately decided on The Bella Room, where Heather had gone to as a child when it was Cherokee Tavern. This was a great fit and the couple was excited to hear that The Bella Room had October 13th available! If you haven’t caught on by now with the date selection, Heather loves all things spooky. That being said, a Friday the 13th spooky wedding in October with lots of black decor was a must!
The morning of the wedding, the couple arrived on site to finish getting ready. The bride touched up her black lipstick and slipped into her black wedding gown. This look was 100% Heather, it was perfect! Meanwhile, Chris was adding the finishing touches to his outfit, which included a kilt to celebrate his Scottish heritage!
The couple chose Rachel Lahlum Photography as their photographer, which we were so happy about. She is one of our favorites, and you’ll see why with the epic photos she captured of the day! Rachel set the couple up for their sweet first look, which was followed by portraits around the venue. Heather made her own bouquet, which turned out so fun!
Not long later, it was time for the ceremony! The couple rented our black circular arch, which needed minimal decor to match the theme. Just a little bit of drapery with a few hanging tea lights and it was perfect! Chris’ dad is in a band called Singleton Street, so they played music as guests entered. This set a lovely vibe for the ceremony. Once everyone was seated, the KUE team began the processional. Heather made her grand entrance with both of her parents, leaving a big smile on her groom’s face. The couple shared many loving words, a unity ceremony, and of course a kiss! They then recessed out as the happiest Mr and Mrs (for the second time)!
To the delight of guests, Singleton Street continued playing during cocktail hour. Guests socialized and enjoyed beverages while checking out some of the uniquely on brand decor the couple had chosen. Heather’s mom made the card basket, which matched their theme perfectly.
The weather even took part in the couple’s spooky wedding theme by giving us a dark, rainy day. Rachel Lahlum Photography kept an eye on the weather, and when the rain let up she pulled the couple outside for a few photos. From the floral edit to the smoke bomb, you can really see Rachel’s epic style that we were talking about shine through!
When it came to reception decor, Heather wanted to keep it simple. She went with LED candles and holders out of our inventory, along with black wreaths she found for a good deal since it was Halloween season! The black linens and napkins from Brie Cater tied the whole vision together.
As guests entered the spooky wedding reception space, they were amazed and loved the unique look! We kept the energy high by sending the couple out to do a table dash to get photos with all of their guests, one of Rachel Lahlum’s specialties is making this run smoothly and on schedule. This is no easy feat!
Brie Cater provided a delicious buffet meal that offered something for everyone. As guests finished up, they made their way over to the dessert table that was filled with irresistible treats from Thirsty Whale Bakery!
The night wrapped up with On Call Entertainment taking over the music. The couple did their first dance before Rachel captured a fun group photo of the couple with all of their guests. This is a great way to have everyone on the dance floor to get the party started! The DJ did a mix of dance music and karaoke, which is something that Heather and Chris frequently do with their friends. It was so fun seeing people get into it!
We couldn’t think of a better way to spend our Friday the 13th than having a perfectly spooky wedding with Heather and Chris! Thanks to all the vendors who helped bring this special day to life for this sweet couple.
