Woodland Fairy Wedding at Urban Daisy

Real Weddings

Kelsey and Ben met when they were each out with their friends one night at The Pourhouse in Downtown Minneapolis. Ben and his friends threw an imaginary lasso up to Kelsey and her friends on the balcony and danced the night away together!

Ben proposed to Kelsey in the campus gardens of Iowa State University. They were there with her family to visit her brother and see where he worked. Ben worked with Kelsey’s siblings to set up a small area where they could be the paparazzi while he proposed. Of course, she said yes and it was time to start wedding planning!

Kelsey used to work at a local catering company, so we had the pleasure of knowing her previously. It was an honor to hear that Kelsey remembered us and wanted to book us to help plan their wedding day. After hearing the start of their love story, you have a good idea of how much fun these two were to plan with!

The day started with the wedding party getting ready in their respective groups. The ladies were joined by Sadie Petersen from Haus Salon and Styled by Abbi who worked together to perfect their hair and makeup. Meanwhile, the guys had a fun “game day” arrival photo shoot outside of the venue, Urban Daisy. Everyone then got into their formal outfits for the day. The bridesmaids were wearing Azazie dresses, the guys were sporting suits from Suit Supply, and Kelsey slipped into her gown from A&Be. Everyone was looking glamorous!

Kelsey then made her rounds of first looks. First with her bridesmaids, followed by her father, and wrapping it up with her groom! These were all such special moments that Rachel Lahlum Photography captured perfectly.

When we recommended Rachel Lahlum Photography to the couple, we knew that they would be a great fit! The couple’s fun personality and the uniqueness of their decor and venue were the perfect match for Rachel’s photography style. We’re obsessed with all of the portraits they were able to get in Urban Daisy’s space!

The ceremony space was simple, with string lights, wood chairs, and a fun half a broken arch from Studio B Floral that matched their woodland fairy wedding theme. We love how this setup drew all of the attention to the couple and the florals. This allowed guests to focus on the couple without any distractions and take in their lovely ceremony to its fullest!

When it came to decor, especially at the reception, the couple wanted to have a Lord of the Rings meets woodland fairy wedding theme. After working through various ideas with Studio B Floral, we were able to achieve it! Once everything was set up, we got to do a room reveal with the bride and groom. Their amazed reactions made our days!

Guests were just as impressed. As they entered the space we heard many compliments and comments about the details. Everyone loves when couples get creative with their weddings and customize them to reflect who they are!

Once guests were seated, Fork & Flair served up a delicious meal that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. For dessert, guests indulged in cupcakes from Copper Hen that satisfied their sweet tooth. The perfect combo!

As dinner wrapped up, Rachel Lahlum Photography pulled the couple outside for a few quick sunset photos. Talk about perfectly romantic lighting!

Upon their return, they did their first dance. Remember how the couple met through an imaginary lasso? Well that’s how their first dance started too – how fun! This was followed by both parent dances. When those were finished, Liquid Motion’s bartenders came out to serve mini lemon drop martinis to everyone in honor of Kelsey’s mom who passed away a few years ago. This was such a special moment that brought everyone together!

As guests enjoyed their drink in celebration of the mother of the bride, Instant Request got the music started. Guests flooded the dance floor with the couple, and the party officially started! The Traveling Photo Booth was also on-site for the reception, which gave guests another fun activity to entertain themselves.

The remainder of the night was spent celebrating Kelsey and Ben’s love. It was a perfect day!

You can hear it from the bride herself in this sweet review she left us. Thank you, Kelsey!

“After working in the wedding industry for 5+ years, when I was planning my wedding I knew exactly who I wanted as my planner, and of course, we chose Dana and her team. Dana is a fabulous planner and pays meticulous attention to detail. I really thought I knew each detail that I had to cover on my checklist but I was surprised at many of the questions on Dana’s checklist – the level of detail her team goes to is extraordinary. I think the most helpful part of hiring Dana was having someone who I could bounce ideas off of at any time, as well as thinking through each scenario and how we wanted the night to play out. Decision fatigue is real and the KUE team was able to keep me on track, and feeling great throughout the process. The night of our wedding, I didn’t have to think of a single thing, and it was wonderful. Dana kept the whole team of vendors on track and everything went off perfectly. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.”

Huge shoutout to the amazing vendors that pulled this woodland fairy wedding day off!
